What the course covers

This course introduces the core principles of safeguarding in early years settings and helps staff understand their duty to protect children from harm.

• It covers recognising signs of physical, emotional and sexual abuse, neglect, online risks and exploitation.
• Learners will understand the need for vigilance, timely action and accurate record-keeping.
• The course explains key safeguarding roles, including the Designated Safeguarding Lead, and outlines reporting procedures in line with statutory guidance.
• It also explores professional boundaries, appropriate conduct and the importance of creating a safe, supportive environment.
